Your job sounds odd at first: you look after people stuck here because they are still clinging to their old lives. You stay with them until they make peace with where they are. And while you do it, you work out piece by piece why you ended up here yourself.

None of that turns into a checklist. It turns into a run of encounters that get close, fast. Every soul brings her own story, and what grows between you is sometimes tender and sometimes flatly physical. Mira herself does not stay the neutral guide she means to be at the start.
